"New love is like discovering a new favorite food. At first, it's all you want. It's all you need. When I was a kid, I fell in love with broccoli and cheese. It was my favorite flavor in the world. Didn't understand why. Didn't matter. My mother understood and she made it for me all the time. I had to have broccoli and cheese. Then one day I didn't want anymore broccoli and cheese. I put it in my mouth and my mouth rejected it like a stolen credit card. I never imagined that would happen. I thought I loved broccoli and cheese. Now I nearly throw up at the sight of broccoli and cheese. I learned a lesson from broccoli and cheese that I'll never forget: no matter how in love you are, no matter how much you think something's going to last forever, chances are it won't.

When you've got a love jones, you're like Mr. Magoo: legally blind, always bumping into something, and so deep up in it you have no time for the rest of life. The landlord puts your shit out in the street? So what? You're in love. Six people in the next room have Ebola virus? You don't care. You're in love. World War III just broke out? Let 'em fight. You're in love.

The reason we say "fell in love" is that it makes it sound more like an accident. Men act like, "I was walking along and fell in love. I tried to get my boys to pull me out, but I got all tangled in ropes and sticks and I couldn't break free."

Love can be cool if a woman falls in there with you. But that doesn't always happen. More often than not you'll fall in love by yourself. You can't make somebody love you. Want to. Can't.

Finally, you have to tell her the truth: "Hey, I'm in love with you." As soon as you say those words you realize that she couldn't give a fuck. You know because her voice got all sweet and patient. "It's not you, it's just that right now I'm not ready for a relationship." I knew that line. That's what all women tell you when you're not the guy. What it really means is, "You know what? I just can't imagine fucking you. I have fantasies of fucking men all the time, but none of them ever involve you. I'm sure there will be a woman out there who loves your scawny ass, but I'm not her." If you hear a woman say, "it's not you," guess what? It's always you!

If I was the guy, there'd be no excuse for her not to be in the relationship. When it comes to love, women don't give a shit about the odds against it. Pocahontas fell in love with John Smith while his boys were slaughtering her family. Romeo and Juliet's people were feuding for generations, and they still tried to make a go of it. Women love to be in relationships. When a woman meets the guy she's ready.

Being blown off is bad. Not getting the hint is worse. When a woman puts you off, you have to move on. I know, you still want to reach out and touch. You just can't help it. But believe me, she really doesn't want to talk to you.

Men have women we'll fuck, but we won't take them out. Women got men you let take you out, but you won't fuck. Ain't that some shit? There are men on dates right now who aren't getting any, and never will.

Women always complain that there are no men out there. But there are plenty of guys. The problem is that women all go after the same men. Ninety percent of the women go after ten percent of the men. More clearly, you all want the same guys. Meanwhile most men aren't getting shit. Most men are just waiting around, wondering, "When am I going to get laid?" All women want the go-getter. The conqueror. But after he's made the conquest they get mad because he won't stick around. What did you expect? He's got to conquer more. He knows he's got a great responsibility to all women. They depend on him. He's their fantasy. But a woman doesn't want to hear that. As soon as Mr. Wonderful moves on, she's on the phone with her girlfriend wanting to know why all men are so full of shit. It's not all men, it's just that ten percent who are lucky enough to get the ninety percent."

Last night was the sheer yearly spectacular known as WrestleMania. With 8 scheduled matches and some unneeded outside ring skits, the night had its share of ups and downs. I will go through those matches and give my input on those ups & downs, and give my thoughts on what I thought of the event.

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
ALBERTO DEL RIO VS. EDGE

Seeing the World Heavyweight title fight the first match of the night was a rarity, it was in fact the first time in history that has happened, but it kicked off the show in a good way. There wasn't too much to complain about in this one. Good time duration with solid ring skills by both competitors. Edge retained his title after hitting Del Rio with a spear, so it was a good victory by the Rated R Superstar in traditional fashion. After the match Edge decided to celebrate by smashing up the $100,000+ car of Del Rio. This tactic was uncalled for but was a good scene for the fans. If I were to change anything about this match I wouldn't of had Christian and Brodus Clay be ringside but both superstars had to be included in the show somehow. Interference was not a severe problem in this match so it wasn't a big deal after all having them in the corners.

CODY RHODES VS. REY MYSTERIO
One of the better matches of the night was followed by a surprising outcome. Rhodes and Mysterio put on a pretty good show, spending most of the match trying to injure eachother with foreign objects already embedded into the match (i.e Rhodes mask; Rey's knee brace). Rhodes stole a victory after popping Rey with the knee brace and immediately after hitting his finisher. Usually on the night of heroes the good guy comes away with a win so it was weird considering Mysterio lost after portraying the super hero look. Rey has had his better nights

EIGHT-MAN TAG TEAM
THE CORE VS. BIG SHOW, KANE, SANTINO MARELLI AND KOFI KINGSTON
This had the potential to be one of the best matches of the night. Explosive start with guys getting closelined and uppercut followed by a huge splash by Kingston. With all madness going on a pin-count by the Big Show was made just 20 seconds into the match and this would be the first and final fall of the night. Show didn't even end it his trademarked chokeslam but a simple right hand. This match was definitely a disappointment, and you can't help but feel for a guy like Kane who battles each and every week and is only rewarded with a gimmick match at the biggest PPV there is.

CM PUNK VS. RANDY ORTON
One of the best matches on the card both before and after the show. WWE really did a horrible job on storylines this year but this is one where it was actually setup with a purpose. These are two of the best athletes in the business, Orton is smooth and finesse while Punk is tactical and pure. I had high hopes of this match and I actually got my moneys worth, I saw new and awesome moves from CM Punk and the highly anticipated RKO I've been daydreaming about all week. The only negative of the match was Orton supporting a bum knee all the way through it, but my man got the W nonetheless.

MICHAEL COLE VS. JERRY LAWLER
SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN
As a highly anticipated match on the card I really had no care for this match going in or coming out. Both competitors, well it's just that they're not competitors they're old guys who announce RAW & Smackdown each week. A lot of people just love to see Stone Cold, as do I but let's face it his shenanigans get old real fast. This match ended with Cole winning via DQ and Steve Austin hitting two innocent men with stone cold stunners for no apparent reason. This did open the gate for good 'ole J.R. to return to the announce booth though.

TRIPLE H VS. THE UNDERTAKER
NO HOLDS BARRED
The most hyped match on the card turned out to be the best of the night (and will go down as a WM classic). The 'last two outlaws' went to battle early in this one, and Taker's unbelievable toss of Game out of the ring set the tone. Both men went through carnage as expected, and pushed eachother to the limit (which I may remind you these are old men now). Triple H was really delivering a beating and I lowkey began to think he might beat the streak. He punished Undertaker with simultaneous chair shots to the back which I was thinking was really gonna damage Taker. Eventually The Undertaker gained control again and made Game submit to a modified triangular hold. Other than the played out, dragged out intro's and exit this match was great. But the 19-0 legend does become old to speak honestly

SIX-MAN CROSSED TAG TEAM
LAYCOOL & DOLPH ZIGGLER VS. TRISH STRATUS, SNOOKIE & JOHN MORRISON
Each year it seems Mania has some kind of celebrity match and this one was actually pretty cool. Very condensed in time it still included some great action. The best part was seeing Trish Stratus do her thing, and in my opinion is still the greatest diva ever both appearance & skill wise. The highlight was Snookie doing a backhand spring and splash to get the win but I was disappointed that John Morrison wasn't in a real match where he could show that he is the best talent in WWE

WWE CHAMPION
JOHN CENA VS. THE MIZ
THE MATCH I was looking forward to most turned out to be the lamest thing all night. After watching awesome (no pun intended) intros from both men they not only wrestled a sub-par match for even regular cable but the outcome was the worst thing WWE has ever done. After initially being a draw from both men being counted out, the match was changed to no disqualification. Seconds after the rule change, Cena was victim of interference and a Rock Bottom delivered by yours truly. The Miz went on to win the match and was then also attacked by Rocky and got a People's Elbow. This was the WORST main event I've ever seen at WrestleMania. Why would you have a has been WWE Superstar, who is full time actor now, come in for one night only and make a fool out of the company poster boy. This makes no sense! You've already dropped the ball by making The Miz champion and thinking this guy has any kind of fanbase whatsoever. I am extremely disappointed in every person who contributed to this storyline and thought this would be good for the WWE but it is clearly not. I understand people love The Rock but he is a SPECIAL GUEST. John Cena is the face of your company who shows up every single week, who produces more revenue than anyone else, and is THE main attraction wherever you go. The ball was really dropped on this one...

THE WRESTLEMANIA HOST
THE ROCK
The Rock ruined my entire WrestleMania experience, and this is coming from a fan of his. He was over-hyped and he contributed absolutely nothing to this show. All the guy did was run a muck, participate in the dumbest out of ring skits ever, and terrorized the main event. It was good to see Rocky back in the ring, but I hope he never comes back. In the words of The Rock himself.. KNOW YOUR ROLE. You are an actor now and this isn't your place anymore. It was a good idea that was poorly executed..

BIGGEST ACQUISITIONS: Most of the Rockies offseason dollars went to locking up Troy Tulowitzki (above) and Carlos Gonzalez, but fireballing reliever Matt Lindstrom was acquired for two minor leaguers in a deal with the Houston Astros. Infielder Jose Lopez will look to jumpstart his career after an awful campaign with the Mariners.

BIGGEST DEPARTURES: Catcher Miguel Olivo signed a multi-year deal with the Seattle Mariners while a duo of familiar names — infielder Clint Barmes and pitcher Jeff Francis — are playing elsewhere this season.

FIVE QUESTIONS TO ASK ABOUT THE ROCKIES:

1. Will Tulo and CarGo be picking up the checks in every road city this season? If their teammates keep reminding them of the offseason deals they just signed, they might. The Rockies committed a total of $237 million to the young duo — 10 years and $157 million to Tulowitzki, seven years and $80 million for Gonzalez — and it's a move that now places a strong emphasis on the Rockies continuing to find and grow their own talent. Both players have a short window to cry relatively poor, though, when the check arrives at their table: The pair will "only" cost the Rockies a combined $6.5 million in 2011.

2. What's going on with the pitching staff? The Rockies staff ERA in 2010 ranked 12th among the 16 National League teams and that was with Ubaldo Jimenez posting a 2.88 during his Cy-like campaign in 2010. Jimenez has looked good this spring, despite a rough outing against the White Sox on Thursday, but he can't do it all by himself. The Rockies will need a big contribution from 23-year-old Jhoulys Chacin, who looked like a star in the making with a 3.28 ERA in 2010 and consistent and injury-free seasons from Jason Hammel and Jorge De La Rosa. The team is hoping the bullpen will be improved with the additions of Lindstrom and Felipe Paulino, but both pitchers have plenty to prove.

3. Is this Todd Helton's last season? Mr. Rockie turns 38 in August and he's coming the worst season of his career after hitting just eight homers and 18 doubles with a .728 OPS in 118 games. A bad back could spell the end of his career if it acts up again, but he's also signed through 2013 and he did have a great and healthy season as recently as 2009. Helton says the team's spring training move from Tucscon to Scottsdale has been invigorating — he can now make short bus trips to get more at-bats — and he's been hitting well, too, with an average of .321 through Friday's games. The season's first two months will likely tell us a lot about Helton's future.

4. Can the Rockies put together a full season this year? Colorado made the playoffs in 2007 and 2009, but struggled to repeat in the following years because of a maddening inconsistency. (In 2008, it was a bad first half. In 2010, it was a miserable second.) A terrible beginning in 2009 also cost Clint Hurdle his job and only an unreal run took Jim Tracy and his team into October. With the world champion Giants wielding a top pitching staff in their division and the wild car never a guarantee, these Rockies probably won't have as big a margin for error. Consistency will be key from day one.

5. Is there an odd-years playoff pattern developing? The Rockies would sure like you to believe that there's something to the 2011 squad making the playoffs after seeing the '09 and '07 teams reach "Rocktober." Check out this funny commercial that the team has been airing this spring.

Arizona is dope

It's only been just two days but I love Scottsdale. Colorado is and has been my only home, but a change of scenery is always nice (and in this case it is VERY nice!)

Maybe it's the palm trees, maybe it's the adobe houses, or maybe cause the grass even at a McDonald's here is greener than a golf course in Westminster. Whatever it may be, Scottsdale is a very beautiful place.

After visiting you will realize that's the understatement of the week, but then again I don't get out much. AZ takes a bad rap cause of the heat but when it's a cool 75 degrees out I'd recommend it to anyone. They've got attractions for days and because the way the architecture is some shopping centers have me thinking I'm in Bedrock. Plus seeing cacti to replace garden brush infatuate the hell out of me

Besides scenery, I finally watched what I came to see.. Spring Training Baseball

Salt Rivers Field is even better than the brochures, the complex is terrific and the team looks promising (<-keyword)

I spent all morning watching the guys take BP, and it felt great to take it all in. The game itself was also something to savor, Cleveland Indians or not it was just great to attend and watch a baseball game again. Rockies got a 3-1 win with some surprisingly good highlights.

All in all my Spring Training trip has been fantastic, and in less than 24 hours I will be back at Talking Sticks to watch the Dodgers get theirs.

Ubaldo Jimenez’s inner righteous dude comes out again via Jim Armstrong

Ubaldo Jimenez keeps getting bigger, but somehow his ego gets smaller.

I’m not the kid’s dad, uncle, agent or P.R. man, but duty requires that I tell you how special No. 38 is. Not as a pitcher. Anybody can see where he’s gone on the mound.

I’m talking as a man.

Every day, Jimenez does something to amaze me. He’s making $2.8 million this season. That’s a ton of money to us 9-to-5ers, but it’s tip money in the big leagues. Yet Jimenez has never complained and never will.

He signs more autographs than anyone else in a Rockies uniform, and he works tirelessly to try to help the team’s young Hispanic players. Then came today’s latest Ubaldo story.

I picked up a copy of Baseball America in the clubhouse and there he was, on the inside cover, in an ad for New Balance spikes.

The first thing he said?

“It’s nice.”

The second thing?

“They spelled juego wrong.”

OK, so the ad reads “Cambia el jeugo,” as in change the game. The amazing part came when I asked Jimenez how many dozen of pairs of spikes and running shoes he gets from New Balance.

Trust me, I’ve been around enough athletes to know they have a blank check when it comes to freebies from their shoe companies. And how many pairs of shoes does Jimenez get?

“Just a few,” he said. “I only ask for what I need.”

Part of me says enough already with the Ubaldo stories. But then the funniest thing happens. The sun comes up and the kid amazes me again.

Yet sometimes the strongest are delivered without doing anything. The Rockies didn't sign a new catcher, didn't trade for a slugging out-fielder, never considered landing an everyday third baseman.

It was uncomfortable silence for many fans, but clearly a strong vote of confidence for Chris Iannetta, Seth Smith and Ian Stewart. The Rockies believe, white knuckles crossed, that the trio can rebound from disappointing seasons.

Before a monsoon swirled through Salt River Fields on Saturday, manager Jim Tracy discussed the topic.

"We made a statement," he said.

Colorado wants Iannetta to be an everyday guy. If he's good, the team's better. It also gives the Rockies trade options with prospect Willin Rosario's footsteps getting louder every minute. The Rockies want Stewart to be a core, middle-of-the-order bat. They want Smith to hit second and play left field.

The players know it.

"I have never burned more than I do now to be an everyday player. It's time for me to step up. It's all there for me," said Smith, who's eager to get plenty of at-bats against left-handers in spring training. "It's just whether I take it or not. I am ready to do it."

The open secret is that the three have jobs to lose. The dirty little secret is that patience is at a premium, particularly for Smith and Stewart. The Rockies didn't bring in Ty Wiggington to spend more time on the bench than Judge Judy. This guy can hit. He has power too.

So, if Stewart and Smith fail against left-handers — neither has hit them well over the past two seasons — Wigginton will play. Heck, if first baseman Todd Helton resembles the player he was during the first half of last season, he's going to have trouble reaching five starts a week.

This is what good teams do. They acquire depth to cover weaknesses.

A compelling argument can be made that the Rockies should have addressed at least one of the positions — catcher, corner outfielder and third base — with a clear starter. They chose a course that meshes with their business model — "Kids, come one, come all, get your chance at the big leagues" — while providing a rip cord.

Don't overlook how much fiery Carney Lansford influenced this decision. His priority as the Rockies' new hitting instructor is to unlock the potential of Iannetta, Smith and Stewart. To light the Bunsen burner underneath their seats.

With last season as evidence, you can cover liabilities for only so long. Melvin Mora and Jason Giambi filled in admirably, but they were never intended to play as much as they did.

Today marks the birthday of one of the greatest comedic geniuses to ever live, not to mention one of my favorite persons and biggest idols as well. Chris Farley was a great man with a great heart. Although his head wasn't clear about some things and he unfortunately passed away due to bad habits, the impact he left on peoples lives is tremendous and his legacy will always live on. I will be celebrating the life of this amazing person today and will cherish, as always, everything he has given to his fans.
